Thankful for Freedom

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

As we continue this week of gratitude, today is a good day to pause and appreciate something we often overlook simply because we’re so used to having it: freedom.

Not just economic freedom—though that matters immensely—but the broad spectrum of freedoms we enjoy every day in the United States. Freedoms so normal to us that we hardly notice them… until we imagine life without them.

We have freedom of speech, which allows us to think, speak, question, learn, debate, disagree, and grow. Plenty of people around the world don’t enjoy that privilege. Here, you can voice your ideas without fear of being silenced by the government.

We have freedom of religion, or the freedom not to practice a religion, and either way it’s entirely your choice. That’s rare in human history and still unreal in many parts of the world.

We have freedom of movement. You can pick up tomorrow and move across town, across the country, or start over in a new state with nothing stopping you but gas money and motivation. No permits, no state approval, no penalties for leaving.

We have the freedom to reinvent ourselves. We can change careers. Learn a new skill. Start a business. Pivot when life changes. Walk away from the wrong path and pursue the right one. There’s no caste system, no ceiling placed over your head by birth or class. If you want to build a new life, you don’t have to wait for permission—you just start.

And we have the freedom to chase our passions. You can pursue art, fitness, travel, real estate, writing, mentoring, cooking, building, teaching—whatever your spark happens to be. You can spend your days trying to make your dream life a reality, even if the path is unconventional. There are people in the world who will never know what that feels like.

For real estate investors, this freedom shows up in practical ways too. You can buy where you want, invest how you want, partner with who you want, structure deals creatively, and walk your own path to financial independence.

These freedoms aren’t perfect. Our systems aren’t perfect. But perfection isn’t required to be grateful.

Today is simply a reminder that we get to live in a country where opportunity exists, movement is possible, and reinvention is always on the table. A place where your voice matters, your choices matter, and your future is largely shaped by your actions.

That’s something worth being thankful for.
