To Stage or Not to Stage?

To Stage or Not to Stage?

Staging a home for sale is the process of placing carefully selected furniture and accessories usually in the living room, primary bedroom, and kitchen, to help potential buyers visualize living there. Studies suggest that staged homes may sell faster and may see a 1-4% increase in offer price.

So why would anyone NOT stage a home? For investors it comes down to a cost-benefit decision. Spend $5000 to see a $3000 bump in price and sell one week faster? Spend nothing on staging and have it under contract in two weeks anyway? No one can predict the future 100% accurately. The best we can do is evaluate the decision in light of a few data points.
