The “best” return for one investor may be undesirable for a different investor. Each person has different priorities, risk tolerances, level of involvement commitments, skills, and personality types. A non-people-person would not enjoy investing in short-term rentals even if they could make 30-40% returns. In the same way, a person with substantial assets, low risk tolerance, and desire for minimal involvement, might very well be satisfied investing in syndications or REITs, making 8-12% returns. 

It’s like asking an old man if he wears boxers or briefs. The answer: “DEPENDS”. 

The BEST return is a preferred rate of return, level of risk, and activity commitment set by YOU.
