How to INTERVIEW a Prospective Contractor
Get Started Well. Part of the Saturday Construction Series

Bad contractor experiences can ruin investing projects and sadly they seem to happen often. Avoid this through a sound hiring process. It begins with the interview. In this conversation you want to make sure of three things:
This contractor is:
A good person;
Good at what he/she does;
Wants the work badly enough to make your project a priority.
If the person fails on any of the three, you will regret hiring them. Be picky. Be demanding but fair. Communicate clearly and often. Click here to download a list of questions that can guide your interview process.
Conduct the interview at your office or place of your choosing. Control the process. Subtle cues communicate who is in charge and it needs to be you.
