Conduct a BITA Analysis

It's a new name for an old risk assessment

Let me start by saying we will be using the word "ass" in this tip a few times. If that offends you, maybe skip today. Because sometimes "fanny" just won't do -- such as when you're trying to invent a cool new acronym.

I have a friend (older gentlemen) who actually shot a lion while on safari in Africa. He was posing for a picture next to the lion and it turns out the lion wasn't quite dead. That lion raised up and bit a huge chunk out of my friend's ass. He has spent the rest of his life limping around (there remain several unanswered questions for all you ten-year olds out there). This is all because he didn't conduct a BITA analysis before the photo shoot.

You can imagine the acronym "Bite me In The Ass" - BITA. It's a good question to ask when posing with a wild animal. But it's also a GREAT question to ask when looking at any real estate deal, or any deal actually. "How could this deal come back to bite me in the ass?" If you can answer that, you've done another type of risk analysis (but with a much cooler acronym than SWOT, PESTEL, or NOISE).
